Types of Lenses

Polarized - these lenses have a filter that eliminate or reduces the reflection from water. Popular with fisherman and boaters, but can be worn for general wear.

Optical quality glass provides a clear and distortion free lens. The lens has been ground and polished to remove any imperfections. These lenses are chemically treated to be impact resistant. Glass is heavier, but also more scratch resistant than plastic lenses.

Polycarbonate lenses are the strongest lens you can find. This lens material is an ultra lightweight plastic that provides superb clarity, high impact resistance and exceptional wearer comfort making it an excellent choice for many sports. Mirror coatings are often applied to polycarbonate lenses, which further reduce glare.

Acrylic lenses are the most common general-purpose lens. They are available in grey (also known as smoke), brown, and green. Many acrylic lenses will also be available in fashion colours such as amber, pink, purple, blue, yellow and red. These colours will change depending on the trend.

Gradient lenses that are darker on top and get gradually lighter at the bottom

Mirrored Coatings provide a more effective way to reduce the light from intense sunlight or glare. A coating is placed over regular lenses to provide a mirrored look. A gradient mirror coating is similar to a gradient lens, where the mirror coating is graduated, heavier on the top part of the lens. Full mirror is where the entire lens is completely mirrored. Double gradient is where the mirror coating is on the top and the bottom of the lens, but not on the middle. Mirror coatings are available in many colours such as silver, blue, yellow, and orange.
